MAKING A BANNER
New Banner
On selecting Banner in the startup window of Flash Design Studio, a “New Banner” pop-up window opens up displaying following options:
Size- You can give different shapes and sizes to your banner. You can select size from the drop down which has various options called Small Button, Large Button, Vertical Banner, Skyscraper Banner, Square Button, Wide Skyscraper, Small Square, Square, Half Banner, Standard Banner, Leader board, Banner W/Nav, Medium Rectangle, Vertical Rectangle, Large Rectangle, Rectangle, Button and Custom. You can change the border of the banner by clicking on the checkbox of the option ‘Border’. You can also customize the color and size of the border of the banner.
Background Shapes- You can give different shapes to the background of the banner by selecting option from the drop down of the ‘Background Shapes’ starting from rectangle, diamond to semi circle. When you preview the banner, the banner will appear in the shape of selected background shape.
Solid color- To have solid color click on radio button in front of Solid Color then select color of your choice from option Color.
Gradient Color - To have Gradient color, click on the radio button provided in front of Gradient Color. Now, you can select Start Color and End Color of your choice then select Type of your choice from the drop down and fix angle by the option named Angle.
Custom/Library Image- To have an Image filled in the background of the banner, there are two radio buttons, Custom Image and Library Image. By clicking on the Custom Image, you can upload your own images. You can also upload images from the Library of the product by clicking on the radio button of the Library Image. You can browse the images from the library and a Background Library pop-up window will open. You can either select Static or Flash Images. The Static Images vary in sizes whereas flash images do not vary in sizes.
Preloader- It is a checkbox that helps you to get a Preloader for your banner. To select Preloader of your choice click on the button named Select Preloader, you will get a lot of designs for Preloader. You can select any design of Preloader then click OK.
Replay button at the end of the banner- It is a checkbox that will help you in getting a Reply button at the end of the designed banner.
Loop continuously- It is a checkbox that helps you in making your banner loop continuously.
Frame Rate- You can enter Fame Rate as per your requirement.
Hyperlink- You can give hyperlink to your banner by entering the URL of the website in the column next to Hyperlink (where http:// is already present) which you want your customers to see when they click at your hyperlink in banner.
Target- You can select target of choice from the drop down.
Browse Sound- If you add sound to banner, click on” Browse Sound” button and choose sound of your choice from our library and click OK.
Select Template- If you want to select a banner template from template library then click on the button named Select Template. This will open the template library for you to choose banner template of your choice and click OK.
User Interface (Tools & Features)
The User Interface of Banner Designer gives you the facility to customize and edit your banner. To assist you in a better way Banner application consists of following components:
a) Menu bar
The Menu bar contains different Menu options. These are File, Edit, View, Insert, Filters, and Help.
i. File Menu
You can create a new banner from scratch or from an existing template, open an existing banner, save a new banner, save created banner as a template for future, FTP to website, send banner in mail and publish banner. Alternatively, you can access New, Open, Save and Publish options from the Toolbar as well. You can save your banner in any directory or drive of your computer in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format. Publish a banner in GIF, SWF, HTML, JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, AVI and PDF, as well as transparent output in GIF, PNG, HTML and SWF.
FTP to Website
You can access the FTP to Website from the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on FTP and pop-up window opens up; you need to add FTP site to start and another pop-up window opens for FTP Site information. In this pop-up window, you need to input the Host Name, User Name, Password, Port and Directory. You can check the checkbox for Passive Connection, if required and click on Ok button. The FTP site gets added to the list. You can add more sites and modify or delete as desirable.
To upload a banner file, browse your file from your system and click on Upload File button to upload it to the FTP website.
ii. Edit Menu
You can use Undo and Redo options to correct and repeat the previous actions, Edit Background to change background properties, Copy and Paste to copy and paste the objects, Copy properties to copy the effects/transition associated with the object and Paste properties to apply the copied properties to the selected object, Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical and Delete to delete the selected objects from the banner.
iii. View Menu
You can view or hide the grid lines and ruler, zoom percentage from 25% to 200% and Align for alignment options. You can also send backward or bring forward different objects in the banner.
iv. Insert Menu
You can add Text, Image, Shape, Button and Symbol. You can combine multiple banners by choosing “Add Multiple Banners”, Create Banner Rotator for rotating 2 or more banners. The “Preview” option can be used to preview the banner.
(1) Add Multiple Banners
You can use this feature to combine multiple banners together, please note that the format of the banner/s should be SWF. You need to browse banners from your system or you can create new banners and publish them in SWF format and then use this feature. The selected banners are combined into single file, check the Loop continuously option to perform loop action on them. You can also select the timing and the banner size that you want to display.
(2) Banner Rotator
A user can access the Banner Rotator from the Insert Menu in the Top Menu Bar. If you want to rotate multiple banners use Banner Rotator.
Banner Rotator Type: Banner Rotator gives you three choices for Banner display; you can select either of the following options:
1) Show a random, single banner ad once per session – This option allows you to preview only one random banner per session of Browser. On refreshing (F5) or opening banner again in new browser, a different banner will appear.
2) Randomly show several banner ads, changing the images at a set time interval - This option allows you to preview multiple banners randomly.
3) Show several banner ads in order, at a set time interval - This option allows you to preview multiple banner in the same order as mentioned under “Image location on the Web Page”.
4)Time Interval- Here you can specify the time interval for display (stay time) of each banner in the rotator.
5) Width and Height- You need to input the width and height of the banner.
Banner Click Behavior: You can choose the click action by selecting the “Banner Click Behavior”. The two actions are:
1) Open Image point to URL In same Browser window – On clicking the banner in the image rotator, the specified URL will open in same browser window.
2) Open Image point to URL In a new Browser window - On clicking the banner in the image rotator, the specified URL will open in new browser window.
You need to input the location of the image which you want to display in the banner in the “Image location on web page” input box, in the next input box “Image points to URL” enter URL, on clicking on the image in the banner, the user will be redirected to this URL. In the “Alt Text” input box enter the text you want to be displayed when user hovers over the image.
After entering the required information click on “Create Banner Rotator” button, a new pop-up window opens up which provides you the HTML code, you can either save or copy this code. This code needs to be added to your website. You can also preview the created banner by clicking on “Preview” Button
v. Filters Menu
You can add visual effects to your banner by using an inverted effect, enabling Grey Scale, sharpening the object, highlighting the edges of object or giving a water-like effect.
vi. Help Menu
In this menu, you can access Tips of the Day, Online Help and Tutorial, Technical Support, the website of the product, purchase Flash Design Studio and also know about more about the product.
b) Main Toolbar
The tool bar let you access the shortcuts to various processes i.e. Start a new banner, open an existing banner, saving a banner, Copy Object, Paste, Delete, Undo, alignment options, Redo, Preview, Publish, Help and Zoom objects in the banner. By Publish button, the banner can be published in 14 formats: Animated Banner Format in SWF, HTML,AVI and GIF or as Static Banner Format in JPG, PNG, TIFF, PDF, Static GIF or BMP format.
• New: You can create a new banner by clicking on the button “New”.
• Open: You can open a saved banner created in Flash Design Studio.
• Save: Flash Design Studio allows you to save your banner. To save click Save button by clicking menu bar >File > Save. Alternatively click Save button from Toolbar. You can save your banner in any directory or drive of your computer. You can save your banner in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format.
• Copy: You can copy the desired objects from your banner. Click button named Copy from the toolbar and the selected object will be copied. Alternatively, you can select Copy from menu bar> Edit
• Paste: You can access the Paste button not only from the Main Tool Bar but also from the Edit Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You select any object from the banner, click on the Paste button and the object will be pasted.
• Delete: You can delete the objects in your banner. Select the object you want to delete and click delete. Alternatively, you can select Delete from menu bar> Edit.
• Undo: You can go a step back or to the previous step by clicking on Undo. Alternatively, you can select Undo from menu bar> Edit.
• Redo: You can redo a step by clicking on redo. Alternatively, you can select redo from menu bar> Edit.
• Alignment Options: You can align your objects with this button. Alternatively, you can access the same from View Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You can align the selected object to the left, in the center, to the right, at the top, in the middle or at the bottom.
• Preview button: By Preview button, you can preview the banner created by you before it is published.
• Publish: To publish your banner, click on the Publish Button and you can access the same Button in the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. When you will click publish, a new window will open. With Flash Design Studio you will get a choice of getting banner published in 14 formats: In Animated Banner Formats as SWF, HTML, GIF and AVI, in Static Banner Formats as JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, Static GIF format or in transparent GIF, PNG, HTML and SWF formats. Select the option according to your choice and click OK.
• Help: By clicking on the Help Button, you can navigate to the website where you can access the Help File of the product.
• Zoom option: This option zooms in the banner workspace with your banner to the selected option. It has options like 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175% and 200%.
c) Multiple canvases
You can work on more than 1 project at a time as you can switch between multiple tabs. You can open maximum 7 canvases at a time.
d) Layers Panel
The layers section allows you to view the selected object. This section helps you to lock and hide objects and arrange objects by moving them up and down with the help of arrows.
e) Bottom Panel
The Bottom Panel has three tabs named Properties, Effects and Transitions, which get highlighted once an object is selected. If you click on the background “Edit background” button appears in the bottom panel. Alternately you can click “Edit Background option” under Edit Menu.
i) Properties tab
The Properties tab shows and lets you edit the properties of the selected object. It shows the options like the add text, customize font style from existing fonts or import fonts from your system, insert fonts from the font character map, change font size, text styles such as bold, italic, underline and arc text. You can also Rotate text, provide transparency, change letter spacing between text, fill with a solid color or choose gradient fill or Fill with image. You can also link the selected object to a website.
ii) Effects Tab
The Effects tab allows you to drop shadow, blur, outline and emboss any selected object. You need to check the checkbox of the relevant effect to apply it to an object.
iii) Transitions tab
The Transitions tab shows various animations to give special effects to your banner at different stages. Following are the transitional effects:
• Start timing: The option “From beginning of the banner” will allow you to display the object in the beginning of the banner. When you select option “From another object”, it will allow you to control the beginning appearance of the object with respect to another objects. From the drop down you can select the object with which you want to control the transition of selected object and from second drop
down you can select when the object will appear either on entry, stay or exit of the object in the previous dropdown.
• Entry effect: The options in entry effects help you to give special effect while the object is entering the banner. The option named effect has some selections like left to right or right to left effect etc. options that let you choose how the object should make entry in the banner. Entry time option helps you to decide the speed and you can fix the number of seconds at which the object must enter the banner.
• Stay effect: The options in stay effects help you to give special effect when the object stays on the banner and what it should do while staying on the banner. The option named effect has some selections like blinking, Zoom in, Zoom out, Fade in, Fade out etc options that let you choose what the object should do. Stay time option helps you to decide the stay time of the object and fix the number of seconds that the object must stay on the banner.
• Exit effect: The options in exit effects help you to give special effect when the object exits from the banner and what it should do while going back from the banner. The option named effect has some selections like Zoom out, bottom to top etc that let you choose what the object should do. Exit time option helps you to decide the exit time of the object and fix the number of seconds after which the object must exit from the banner.
iv) Edit Background
Edit Background has following options:
• Banner Size- You can give different shapes and sizes to your banner. f) Workspace
It is the area where you design your banner and see the changes happening according to your preferences and actions. Here, you can add different design elements and apply tools available to your banner. The work area can be extended to full screen with an arrow button available next to the bottom menu bar.
g) Tools in the left panel
The left panel contain buttons for different design tools that help you in making interesting and impressive banners. You can add text, image, symbols, shapes, and button, color filters, send back and bring front the objects, group ungroup, select all, flip vertical and flip horizontal, overlays, background libraries, color picker, color libraries, to fill color in the objects of banner.
i) Add Text
Adding Text: Click on the ‘Add Text’ or ‘T’ button to add text to the banner. You can also access this option in Insert Menu of the Menu Bar. You can edit the text directly in the Text Element. Alternatively, select the Text Element and edit the text from Properties Tab in the text box called ‘Text’.
Text Property Tab- When you select the Add Text design element, Text Property Panel will open just below the workspace. This Text ‘Properties’ tab has various text properties:
1.Name: It gives you an option to give text name. This text name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the text which makes it easy to search among other texts.
2.Text: It is a text box where you can enter your text.
3. Bold: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in bold when the checkbox is checked.
4.Italics: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in italics when the checkbox is checked.
5.Underline: It is a checkbox that help you to underline the text when the checkbox is checked.
6.Arc Text: It is a checkbox that arcs the selected Text Element in the banner. You can also define the arc angle.
7.Font: It is a drop down that helps you to select the Font Style from the available Font options.
8. Import System Fonts: Click on the Import Font button and fonts will be imported from your system to the software.
9. Font Character Map: Click on the Character Map and a pop-up window opens up. Select the font you wish to add and copy it to add it to the selected Text Element. The each font has its own character set.
10. Link: It helps you to convert text into hyperlink.
11. Target: The frame tags in HTML guides the user how it will open in browser. The target is a dropdown with four options:
- self: it loads the page within the same frame as the link tag.
- blank: the link opens in a new browser window.
- parent: it opens in immediate parent of a frame.
- top: within a link tag causes the new page to load in the full body of the window, which is useful if you ever want to break out of the frameset you have created and have a frameless page.
12. Option X and Y: These options indicate the location of the text in the banner or workspace.
13. Transparency: It gives you an option to add transparency effect to the selected object in the banner
14. Letter spacing: You can either increase or decrease the spaces in between the alphabets of the text with this option.
15. Fill with Color: You can choose Color of the text according to your choice. You can either fill the text with a single color by selecting ‘Solid’ option or mix two colors together by selecting ‘Gradient’ option.
16. Fill with Image: You can fill the text with your image by clicking the check box of ‘Fill Image’ and enabling the Browse Button.
17. Size: This slide-bar gives you an option to increase or decrease the font size according to your wish.
18. Rotation: This slide-bar gives you an option to rotate text to any degree.
ii) Add Image
Adding Image(s): You can add Image(s) of your choice to your banner by clicking on the button of Images in the Left Panel. An alternative method is that you can go to the Insert Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on the button named Add Image. After clicking add image a new window named Add Images will open. In this window you will find an option named browse that will enable you to browse images from your computer and select an image from your computer. When you add an image the other options of scale, rotate, brightness, contrast and crop image will get activated. The scale option lets you to change images width and height. Rotate slide bar has options marked as 0, 90, 180, 270 and 360 that let you rotate the image to the selected angle. Brightness is a slide bar that helps you increase and decrease the brightness of the image. Contrast is also a slide bar that helps you to increase or decrease the image contrast. Crop helps you to crop the image and use in banner.You can import images in JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF and TIFF formats.
Image Properties tab - When you select the Image design element or image of the intro, Image Properties tab will open just below the workspace. This Properties tab has various image properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the image. This image name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the image which makes it easy to search among other images.
2. Crop: A new pop up window opens where you can crop the selected image.
3. X and Y: It indicates the position of the image on the intro.
4. Width: It helps you to edit the width of the image.
5. Height: It helps you to edit the height of the image.
6. Hyperlink: It helps you to convert image into hyperlink.
7. Target: The frame tags in HTML guides the user how it will open in browser.
- self: it loads the page within the same frame as the link tag.
- blank: the link opens in a new browser window.
- parent: it opens in immediate parent of a frame.
- top: within a link tag causes the new page to load in the full body of the window, which is useful if you ever want to break out of the frameset you have created and have a frameless page.
8. Rotate: This slide bar gives you option to rotate image to any degree.
9. Transparency: The slide bar adds transparency visual effect to the image
iii) Add Symbol
Adding Symbol: To add symbol to the banner, click on the Symbol Button in the tools on the Left Panel or you can access the same from the Insert Tab in the Menu Bar. On clicking the button, a pop-up window opens displaying a list of different types of symbols catering to different industries. Select the symbol and click on ‘Ok’ button and it gets added to the banner.
The Bottom Panel displays three tabs with which you can customize the properties and add visual or transition effects to the symbol.
With the Properties tab, you can change the width, height or color of the symbol. You can add gradient effect or add image in the symbol. Adjust the rotation as per your requirements. A user can also use Transparency option to add transparency effect to the selected objects in the banner.
The Effects tab provides user with Drop shadow effect. You can change the color of the shadow. Blur and Outline effect can be added to the symbol. By clicking on the Emboss checkbox, you can give an embossed effect to the symbol.
The Transitions tab enables you to set the motion effects to the symbol by setting the timings for when the symbol appears, stays on the banner and exits from the banner.
iv) Add Shape
Adding Shape: Click on the Add Shape Button on the Left Panel or from the Insert Menu in the Menu Bar. You can add to the beauty of your banner by adding shape(s) to it. Click on the design element indicating Add Shapes. A new window named Add shape will open. This window lets you choose shape of your choice. The left side has a preview window that shows your selected shape on the other side you can see a drop down to select shape type where you can select the shape of your choice from Line, Arc,
Burst, Gear, Oval, Polygon, Rectangle, Star, Ring and Diamond. The “Add Shape” pop up allows you to modify size, color and border color of the shape.
Shape Properties Tab- When you select any shape, its Properties tab will open just below the workspace. The properties of the shape panel keep on changing with the selected shape. This tab has various shape properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the shape. This shape name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the shape which makes it easy to search among other shapes.
2. Shape type: It tells the type of the selected shape.
3. Edit: It helps you to edit the selected shape.
4. X and Y: It indicates the position of the shape on the banner.
5. Border size: It helps you to edit the size of the border of shape.
6. Border color: It helps you to edit the color of the border of shape.
7. Angle: It helps you to change the angle of shape.
8. Fill Type: It helps you to select the type of fill color in the shape. You can select from none, solid and gradient color effects.
9. Fill with Image: You can fill the shape with an image in the banner. Click on the checkbox and enable the browse button. You can browse your image from the system.
10. Rotate: You can rotate the shape to different angles by using this option.
11. Transparency: The Transparency option is only for adding transparency effect to the shape.
v) Add Button
Adding Button: You can add button to the banner by clicking on the button in tools on the left panel. It is also accessible from the Insert Menu in the Menu Bar. Click on the design element indicating Add Button. A new window named Add Button will open. This window lets you choose button of your choice. Select button option from drop down named select button from round or square button. Both the options of buttons have buttons of various styles. You can select the button of your choice and below you can see the preview of the button. Select button has some the following details like enter button text where you can enter the name of the button that you want. Font option lets you choose the font for button text. Font size helps you to increase or decrease the size of the font of button text. Hyperlink helps you convert your button text to hyperlinks. Color helps you select the color of the button text. Underline, bold and italics help you to choose all these options.
Button Property Tab- When you select the Add button design element or any button of the banner, button Property Panel will open just below the workspace.
This Property Panel has various button properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the button. This button name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the button which makes it easy to search among other buttons.
2. Text: Input box for you to type the text for button.
3. Bold: It helps you to bold the text of button.
4. Italic: It helps you to italics the text of button.
5. Underline: It helps you to underline the text of button.
6. Font: It helps you to change the font of the button text.
7. Link: It helps to provide a link to the button.
8.Target: It tells the target of the button like self, parents, blank and top.
- self: it loads the page within the same frame as the link tag.
- blank: the link opens in a new browser window.
- parent: it opens in immediate parent of a frame.
- top: within a link tag causes the new page to load in the full body of the window, which is useful if you ever want to break out of the frameset you have created and have a frameless page.
9. X and Y: It indicates the position of the button on the banner.
10. Color: It helps you the edit the color of the button.
11. Size: It helps you to edit the size of the button.
12. Rotate: This slide-bar gives you option to rotate button to any degree.
13. Character map: Here you can add special character from the character map to button text.
vi) Color Adjustment
If you want to adjust the colors of any object you can make the adjustments using ‘Color Adjustment’ button in the Left Panel. Select any object color adjustment and click on the ‘Color Adjustment’ button. A pop-up window opens up which displays slide bars to adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.
vii) Send back/Bring Forward
Banner Designer offers tool to Bring Forward and send backward an object. For this select the object and click on the button Bring Forward or Send Backward.
viii) Group/Ungroup
On clicking the button of Group/Ungroup, you can group two or more objects together. By again clicking on the button, you can ungroup the selected objects. The grouped objects can be dragged together, resized, apply color adjustments, change color, use alignment and you can also flip objects in a group.
ix) Select All
The Select All button enables a user to select all the objects together and you can deselect the objects by again clicking on the button.
x) Flip Vertical/Horizontal
These two buttons can help a user to flip object/s either vertically or horizontally. You can access these two buttons either from ‘Edit’ Menu in the Top Menu Bar or from the tools in the Left Panel.
xi) Overlays
Overlay Button can be accessed from the tools in Left Panel. A user can use image animations which overlay on the banner.
On clicking this button, a pop-window opens up and you can choose the number of objects and adjust the speed as slow, medium and fast and then click on ‘Ok’ button for activating the overlaying of the selected images.
xii) Background Library
The ‘Background Library’ Button (next to ‘Overlay’ Button in the Left Panel) provides you with array of images for the banner background.
On clicking, a pop-up window appears displaying static images and flash animations for the backgrounds. The static images shows background images categorized under different sizes just select the required size and browse for banner backgrounds. Select the background and click on Ok button and it will be added to the banner.
The Flash animations can be applied to any banner size.
You can choose the image orientation as Stretch, Center or Custom from the bottom left section on the pop up window.
xiii) Color Picker
On clicking the Color Picker Button, you can change the color of any selected object in the banner.
Select the Object on which you want to apply color, and then click on Color Picker, move your cursor anywhere on the screen and click on the appropriate color and the color will be applied to the object. Alternatively, click on the object you wish to apply color, place the mouse over the required color and then click the mouse left button or press the spacebar.
xiv) Color Libraries
You can select color from the ‘Color Libraries’ Button. On clicking, a pop-up window opens up which displays five color libraries, namely, Standard, Pastel, Primary, Metallic and Vivid. A user can select any shade and click on ‘Ok’ button.

Step1: In first step, click new and a new banner window will open. Now, select the size, fill type, shape, border for your banner. You can also, select loop if you need the banner to loop continuously, select the Replay button to add the replay button to the banner, specify the Frame rate and most importantly add the destination link to the banner. Go to next step.
Step 2: Now, the banner with the required features will appear on the work area. Now, you can use the Text Tool, Button Tool, Shape Tool and other features and customize the banner. Use transitions, flash background libraries and overlays to give animations to your banner.
Step 3: Next, preview your Banner and save the banner. Finally, Publish the Banner by clicking the Publish button from the tool bar. You have 14 formats: In Animated Banner Formats as SWF, HTML, GIF and AVI, in Static Banner Formats as JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, Static GIF format or in transparent GIF, PNG, HTML and SWF formats. Alternatively, you can publish the banner by clicking File >Publish in the Menu bar. Now, your banner is ready.
Create Banner from Template in 3 Easy Steps!!

MAKING A BUTTON
On selecting “Button” in the startup window of Flash Design Studio, a “New Button” pop-up window opens up displaying following options:
Button Size: Select the Standard Size for the button by clicking and selecting from a Dropdown Menu called ‘Standard’.
Adjust the height and width by inputting your own height and width according to yourself.
Background Shapes: You can give different shapes to the background of the button by selecting any shape from the ‘Background Shapes’ dropdown menu.
Border: You can choose to create a border by selecting ‘Border’ option, change the color and customize the size of the button.
Background Fill: You can also apply visual effects to the button either by selecting a ‘Solid Color’ or applying ‘Gradient Color’ to the button.
Background Image: Fill your own image to the button by clicking on the Custom Image radio button and browsing the image from the system. Another way is to select Library Image radio button and browse the button background from the library of the software, you can choose from a variety of static and flash buttons. There are three options provided to personalize the image once you select and fill it in the button. These options are: ‘Stretch’, ‘Center’ and ‘Custom’.
Frame Rate: You can enter Fame Rate as per your requirement.
Hyperlink: In the Input box of ‘Hyperlink’, you can enter the URL of the website where you want the button to be linked.
Target: This is used to select the target destination (web page) from the target dropdown menu.
Browse Sound: Click on the ‘Browse Sound’ button to browse the music from our sound library. A pop-up window opens up displaying all the sound clips from database of the software. Select the sound which you wish to add and then click on ‘Ok’ button.
Select Template: This option is to select the button from the template library provided to you. A pop-up window opens up displaying different templates and you will find them both in static and in flash. These templates are categorized according to the size. Click on ‘Ok’ button to save the changes that you have made to the button.
In case, you want to start Button from scratch, click Ok and you can work on the blank canvas.

User Interface (Tools & Features)

The User Interface of Flash Design Studio gives you the facility to customize and edit your button. To assist you in a better way Flash Design Studio’s Button application consists of following components:
a)Menu bar
The Menu bar contains different Menu options. These are File, Edit, View, Insert, Filters, and Help.
i. File Menu
You can create a new button from scratch or from an existing template, open an existing button, save a new button, save created button as a template for future, FTP to website, send button in mail and publish button. Alternatively, you can access New, Open, Save and Publish options from the Toolbar as well. You can save your button in any directory or drive of your computer in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format. Publish button in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF.
FTP to Website
You can access the FTP to Website from the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on FTP and pop-up window opens up; you need to add FTP site to start and another pop-up window opens for FTP Site information. In this pop-up window, you need to input the Host Name, User Name, Password, Port and Directory. You can check the checkbox for Passive Connection, if required and click on Ok button. The FTP site gets added to the list. You can add more sites and modify or delete as desirable.
To upload a button file, browse your file from your system and click on Upload File button to upload it to the FTP website.
ii. Edit Menu
You can use Undo and Redo options to correct and repeat the previous actions, Edit Background to change background properties, Copy and Paste to copy and paste the objects, Copy properties to copy the effects/transition associated with the object and Paste properties to apply the copied properties to the selected object, Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical and Delete to delete the selected objects from the button.
iii. View Menu
You can view or hide the grid lines and ruler, zoom percentage from 25% to 200% and Align for alignment options. You can also send backward or bring forward different objects in the button.
iv. Insert Menu
You can add Text, Image, Shape and Symbol to the button.
v. Filters Menu
You can add visual effects to your button by using an inverted effect, enabling Grey Scale, sharpening the object, highlighting the edges of object or giving a water-like effect.
vi. Help Menu
In this menu, you can access Tips of the Day, Online Help and Tutorial, Technical Support, the website of the product, purchase Flash Design Studio and also know about more about the product.
b) Main Toolbar
The tool bar let you access the shortcuts to various processes i.e. Start a new button, open an existing button, saving a button, Copy Object, Paste, Delete, Undo, alignment options, Redo, Preview, Publish, Help and Zoom objects in the button. By Publish button, the button can be published in SWF, HTML as well as get transparent output in HTML and SWF.
• New: You can create a new button by clicking on the button “New”.
• Open: You can open a saved button created in Flash Design Studio.
• Save: Flash Design Studio allows you to save your button. To save click Save button by clicking menu bar >File > Save. Alternatively click Save button from Toolbar. You can save your button in any directory or drive of your computer. You can save your button in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format.
• Copy: You can copy the desired objects from your button. Click button named Copy from the toolbar and the selected object will be copied. Alternatively, you can select Copy from menu bar> Edit
• Paste: You can access the Paste button not only from the Main Tool Bar but also from the Edit Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You select any object from the button, click on the Paste button and the object will be pasted.
• Delete: You can delete the objects in your button. Select the object you want to delete and click delete. Alternatively, you can select Delete from menu bar> Edit.
• Undo: You can go a step back or to the previous step by clicking on Undo. Alternatively, you can select Undo from menu bar> Edit.
• Redo: You can redo a step by clicking on redo. Alternatively, you can select redo from menu bar> Edit.
• Alignment Options: You can align your objects with this button. Alternatively, you can access the same from View Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You can align the selected object to the left, in the center, to the right, at the top, in the middle or at the bottom.
• Preview button: By Preview button, you can preview the button created by you before it is published.
• Publish: To publish your button, click on the Publish Button and you can access the same Button in the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. When you will click publish, a new window will open. With Flash Design Studio you will get a choice of getting button published in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF.
• Help: By clicking on the Help Button, you can navigate to the website where you can access the Help File of the product.
• Zoom option: This option zooms in the button workspace with your button to the selected option. It has options like 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175% and 200%.
c) Multiple canvases
You can work on more than 1 project at a time as you can switch between multiple tabs. You can open maximum 7 canvases at a time.
d) Layers Panel
The layers section allows you to view the selected object. This section helps you to lock and hide objects and arrange objects by moving them up and down with the help of arrows.
e) Bottom Panel
The Bottom Panel has three tabs named Properties, Effects and Transitions, which get highlighted once an object is selected. If you click on the background “Edit background” button appears in the bottom panel. Alternately you can click “Edit Background option” under Edit Menu.
i) Properties tab
The Properties tab shows and lets you edit the properties of the selected object. It shows the options like the add text, customize font style from existing fonts or import fonts from your system, insert fonts from the font character map, change font size, text styles such as bold, italic, underline and arc text. You can also Rotate text, provide transparency, change letter spacing between text, fill with a solid color or choose gradient fill or Fill with image. You can also link the selected object to a website.
ii) Effects Tab
The Effects tab allows you to drop shadow, blur, outline and emboss any selected object. You need to check the checkbox of the relevant effect to apply it to an object.
iii) Transitions tab
The Transitions tab shows various animations to give special effects to your button at different stages. Following are the transitional effects:
• Start timing: The option “From beginning of the button” will allow you to display the object in the beginning of the button. When you select option “From another object”, it will allow you to control the beginning appearance of the object with respect to another objects. From the drop down you can select the object with which you want to control the transition of selected object and from second drop down you can select when the object will appear either on entry, stay or exit of the object in the previous dropdown.
• Entry effect: The options in entry effects help you to give special effect while the object is entering the button. The option named effect has some selections like left to right or right to left effect etc. options that let you choose how the object should make entry in the button. Entry time option helps you to decide the speed and you can fix the number of seconds at which the object must enter the button.
• Stay effect: The options in stay effects help you to give special effect when the object stays on the button and what it should do while staying on the button. The option named effect has some selections like blinking, Zoom in, Zoom out, Fade in, Fade out etc options that let you choose what the object should do. Stay time option helps you to decide the stay time of the object and fix the number of seconds that the object must stay on the button.
• Exit effect: The options in exit effects help you to give special effect when the object exits from the button and what it should do while going back from the button. The option named effect has some selections like Zoom out, bottom to top etc that let you choose what the object should do. Exit time option helps you to decide the exit time of the object and fix the number of seconds after which the object must exit from the button.
iv) Edit Background
Edit Background has following options:
• Button Size- You can give different shapes and sizes to your button. You can select size from the drop down which has various options called Small Button, Large Button, Medium Button, Button and Custom. You can change the border of the button by clicking on the checkbox of the option ‘Border’. You can also customize the color and size of the border of the button.
• Background Shapes- You can give different shapes to the background of the button by selecting option from the drop down of the ‘Background Shapes’ starting from rectangle, diamond to semi-circle. When you preview the button, the button will appear in the shape of selected background shape.
• Solid color- To have solid color click on radio button in front of Solid Color then select color of your choice from option Color.
• Gradient Color - To have Gradient color, click on the radio button provided in front of Gradient Color. Now, you can select Start Color and End Color of your choice then select Type of your choice from the drop down and fix angle by the option named Angle.
• Custom/Library Image- To have an Image filled in the background of the button, there are two radio buttons, Custom Image and Library Image. By clicking on the Custom Image, you can upload your own images. You can also upload images from the Library of the product by clicking on the radio button of the Library Image. You can browse the images from the library and a Background Library pop-up window will open. You can select from static and flash button backgrounds which vary in sizes.
• Hyperlink- You can give hyperlink to your button by entering the URL of the website in the column next to Hyperlink (where http:// is already present) which you want your customers to see when they click at your hyperlink in button.
• Target- You can select target of choice from the drop down.
• Browse Sound- If you add mouse over sound to button, click on” Browse Sound” button and choose sound of your choice from our library and click OK.
f) Workspace
It is the area where you design your button and see the changes happening according to your preferences and actions. Here, you can add different design elements and apply tools available to your button. The work area can be extended to full screen with an arrow button available next to the bottom menu bar.
g) Tools in the left panel
The left panel contain buttons for different design tools that help you in making interesting and impressive buttons. You can add text, image, symbols, shapes, color filters, send back and bring front the objects, group ungroup, select all, flip vertical and flip horizontal, background library, color picker, color libraries, to fill color in the objects of button.
1. Add Text
Adding Text: Click on the ‘Add Text’ or ‘T’ button to add text to the button. You can also access this option in Insert Menu of the Menu Bar. You can edit the text directly in the Text Element. Alternatively, select the Text Element and edit the text from Properties Tab in the text box called ‘Text’.
Text Property Tab- When you select the Add Text design element, Text Property Panel will open just below the workspace. This Text ‘Properties’ tab has various text properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give text name. This text name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the text which makes it easy to search among other texts.
2. Text: It is a text box where you can enter your text.
3. Bold: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in bold when the checkbox is checked.
4. Italics: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in italics when the checkbox is checked.
5. Underline: It is a checkbox that help you to underline the text when the checkbox is checked.
6. Arc Text: It is a checkbox that arcs the selected Text Element in the button. You can also define the arc angle.
7. Font: It is a drop down that helps you to select the Font Style from the available Font options.
8. Import System Fonts: Click on the Import Font button and fonts will be imported from your system to the software.
9. Font Character Map: Click on the Character Map and a pop-up window opens up. Select the font you wish to add and copy it to add it to the selected Text Element. The each font has its own character set.
10. Option X and Y: These options indicate the location of the text in the button or workspace.
11. Transparency: It gives you an option to add transparency effect to the selected object in the button.
12. Letter spacing: You can either increase or decrease the spaces in between the alphabets of the text with this option.
13. Fill with Color: You can choose Color of the text according to your choice. You can either fill the text with a single color by selecting ‘Solid’ option or mix two colors together by selecting ‘Gradient’ option.
14. Fill with Image: You can fill the text with your image by clicking the check box of ‘Fill Image’ and enabling the Browse Button.
15. Size: This slide-bar gives you an option to increase or decrease the font size according to your wish.
16. Rotation: This slide-bar gives you an option to rotate text to any degree.
2. Add Image
Adding Image(s): You can add Image(s) of your choice to your button by clicking on the button of Images in the Left Panel. An alternative method is that you can go to the Insert Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on the button named Add Image. After clicking add image a new window named Add Images will open. In this window you will find an option named browse that will enable you to browse images from your computer and select an image from your computer. When you add an image the other options of scale, rotate, brightness, contrast and crop image will get activated. The scale option lets you to change images width and height. Rotate slide bar has options marked as 0, 90, 180, 270 and 360 that let you rotate the image to the selected angle. Brightness is a slide bar that helps you increase and decrease the brightness of the image. Contrast is also a slide bar that helps you to increase or decrease the image contrast. Crop helps you to crop the image and use in button.
You can import images in JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF and TIFF formats.
Properties Tab for Image
Image Properties tab - When you select the Image design element or image of the button, Image Properties tab will open just below the workspace. This Properties tab has various image properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the image. This image name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the image which makes it easy to search among other images.
2. Crop: A new pop up window opens where you can crop the selected image.
3. X and Y: It indicates the position of the image on the button.
4. Width: It helps you to edit the width of the image.
5. Height: It helps you to edit the height of the image.
6. Rotate: This slide bar gives you option to rotate image to any degree.
7. Transparency: The slide bar adds transparency visual effect to the image
3. Add Symbol
Adding Symbol: To add symbol to the button, click on the Symbol Button in the tools on the Left Panel or you can access the same from the Insert Tab in the Menu Bar. On clicking the button , a pop-up window opens displaying a list of different types of symbols catering to different industries. Select the symbol and click on ‘Ok’ button and it gets added to the button.
The Bottom Panel displays three tabs with which you can customize the properties and add visual or transition effects to the symbol.
With the Properties tab, you can change the width, height or color of the symbol. You can add gradient effect or add image in the symbol. Adjust the rotation as per your requirements. A user can also use Transparency option to add transparency effect to the selected objects in the button.
The Effects tab provides user with Drop shadow effect. You can change the color of the shadow. Blur and Outline effect can be added to the symbol. By clicking on the Emboss checkbox, you can give an embossed effect to the symbol.
The Transitions tab enables you to set the motion effects to the symbol by setting the timings for when the symbol appears, stays on the button and exits from the button.
4. Add Shape
Adding Shape: Click on the Add Shape Button on the Left Panel or from the Insert Menu in the Menu Bar. You can add to the beauty of your button by adding shape(s) to it. Click on the design element indicating Add Shapes. A new window named Add shape will open. This window lets you choose shape of your choice. The left side has a preview window that shows your selected shape on the other side you can see a drop down to select shape type where you can select the shape of your choice from Line, Arc, Burst, Gear, Oval, Polygon, Rectangle, Star, Ring and Diamond. The “Add Shape” pop up allows you to modify size, color and border color of the shape.
Shape Properties Tab- When you select any shape, its Properties tab will open just below the workspace. The properties of the shape panel keep on changing with the selected shape. This tab has various shape properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the shape. This shape name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the shape which makes it easy to search among other shapes.
2. Shape type: It tells the type of the selected shape.
3. Edit: It helps you to edit the selected shape.
4. X and Y: It indicates the position of the shape on the button.
5. Border size: It helps you to edit the size of the border of shape.
6. Border color: It helps you to edit the color of the border of shape.
7. Angle: It helps you to change the angle of shape.
8. Fill Type: It helps you to select the type of fill color in the shape. You can select from none, solid and
gradient color effects.
9. Fill with Image: You can fill the shape with an image in the button. Click on the checkbox and enable the browse button. You can browse your image from the system.
10. Rotate: You can rotate the shape to different angles by using this option.
11. Transparency: The Transparency option is only for adding transparency effect to the shape.
5. Color Adjustment
If you want to adjust the colors of any object you can make the adjustments using ‘Color Adjustment’ button in the Left Panel. Select any object color adjustment and click on the ‘Color Adjustment’ button. A pop-up window opens up which displays slide bars to adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.
6. Send back/Bring Forward
Button Designer offers tool to Bring Forward and send backward an object. For this select the object and click on the button Bring Forward or Send Backward.
7. Group/Ungroup
On clicking the button of Group/Ungroup, you can group two or more objects together. By again clicking on the button, you can ungroup the selected objects. The grouped objects can be dragged together, resized, apply color adjustments, change color, use alignment and you can also flip objects in a group.
8. Select All
The Select All button enables a user to select all the objects together and you can deselect the objects by again clicking on the button.
9. Flip Vertical/Horizontal
These two buttons can help a user to flip object/s either vertically or horizontally. You can access these two buttons either from ‘Edit’ Menu in the Top Menu Bar or from the tools in the Left Panel.
10. Background Library The ‘Background Library’ Button provides you with array of images for the button background.
On clicking, a pop-up window appears displaying static images and flash animations for the button backgrounds. The static and flash button backgrounds images categorized under different sizes just select the required size and browse for button backgrounds. Select the background and click on Ok button and it will be added to the button.
You can choose the image orientation as Stretch, Center or Custom from the bottom left section on the pop up window.
11. Color Picker
On clicking the Color Picker Button, you can change the color of any selected object in the button.
Select the Object on which you want to apply color, and then click on Color Picker, move your cursor anywhere on the screen and click on the appropriate color and the color will be applied to the object. Alternatively, click on the object you wish to apply color, place the mouse over the required color and then click the mouse left button or press the spacebar.
12. Color Libraries
You can select color from the ‘Color Libraries’ Button. On clicking, a pop-up window opens up which displays five color libraries, namely, Standard, Pastel, Primary, Metallic and Vivid. A user can select any shade and click on ‘Ok’ button.

MAKING A INTRO
On selecting Intro in the startup window of Flash Design Studio, a “New Intro” pop-up window opens up displaying following options:
Size- You can give different shapes and sizes to your intro. You can select size from the drop down which has various options called Small Square, Square, Medium Rectangle, Vertical Rectangle and Large Rectangle. You can change the border of the intro by clicking on the checkbox of the option ‘Border’. You can also customize the color and size of the border of the intro.
Background Shapes- You can give different shapes to the background of the intro by selecting option from the drop down of the ‘Background Shapes’ starting from rectangle, diamond to semi-circle. When you preview the intro, the intro will appear in the shape of selected background shape.

Preloader- It is a checkbox that helps you to get a Preloader for your intro. To select Preloader of your choice click on the button named Select Preloader, you will get a lot of designs for Preloader. You can select any design of Preloader then click OK.
Replay button at the end of the intro- It is a checkbox that will help you in getting a Reply button at the end of the designed intro.
Loop continuously- It is a checkbox that helps you in making your intro loop continuously.
Frame Rate- You can enter Fame Rate as per your requirement.

You can use Undo and Redo options to correct and repeat the previous actions, Edit Background to change background properties, Copy and Paste to copy and paste the objects, Copy
properties to copy the effects/transition associated with the object and Paste properties to apply the copied properties to the selected object, Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical and Delete to delete the selected objects from the intro.
iii. View Menu
You can view or hide the grid lines and ruler, zoom percentage from 25% to 200% and Align for alignment options. You can also send backward or bring forward different objects in the intro.
iv. Insert Menu
You can add Text, Image, Shape, Button and Symbol to the intro.
v. Filters Menu
You can add visual effects to your intro by using an inverted effect, enabling Grey Scale, sharpening the object, highlighting the edges of object or giving a water-like effect.
vi. Help Menu
In this menu, you can access Tips of the Day, Online Help and Tutorial, Technical Support, the website of the product, purchase Flash Design Studio and also know about more about the product.
b) Main Toolbar
The tool bar let you access the shortcuts to various processes i.e. Start a new intro, open an existing intro, saving a intro, Copy Object, Paste, Delete, Undo, alignment options, Redo, Preview, Publish, Help and Zoom objects in the intro. By Publish button, the intro can be published in SWF, HTML as well as get transparent output in HTML and SWF.
• New: You can create a new intro by clicking on the button “New”.
• Open: You can open a saved intro created in Flash Design Studio
• Save: Flash Design Studio allows you to save your intro. To save click Save button by clicking menu bar >File > Save. Alternatively click Save button from Toolbar. You can save your intro in any directory or drive of your computer. You can save your intro in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format.
• Copy: You can copy the desired objects from your intro. Click button named Copy from the toolbar and the selected object will be copied. Alternatively, you can select Copy from menu bar> Edit
• Paste: You can access the Paste button not only from the Main Tool Bar but also from the Edit Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You select any object from the intro, click on the Paste button and the object will be pasted.
• Delete: You can delete the objects in your intro. Select the object you want to delete and click delete. Alternatively, you can select Delete from menu bar> Edit.
• Undo: You can go a step back or to the previous step by clicking on Undo. Alternatively, you can select Undo from menu bar> Edit.
• Redo: You can redo a step by clicking on redo. Alternatively, you can select redo from menu bar> Edit.
• Alignment Options: You can align your objects with this button. Alternatively, you can access the same from View Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You can align the selected object to the left, in the center, to the right, at the top, in the middle or at the bottom.
• Preview button: By Preview button, you can preview the intro created by you before it is published.
• Publish: To publish your intro, click on the Publish Button and you can access the same Button in the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. When you will click publish, a new window will open. With Flash Design Studio you will get a choice of getting intro published in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF.
• Help: By clicking on the Help Button, you can navigate to the website where you can access the Help File of the product.
• Zoom option: This option zooms in the intro workspace with your intro to the selected option. It has options like 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175% and 200%.
c) Multiple canvases
You can work on more than 1 project at a time as you can switch between multiple tabs. You can open maximum 7 canvases at a time.
d) Layers Panel
The layers section allows you to view the selected object. This section helps you to lock and hide objects and arrange objects by moving them up and down with the help of arrows.
e) Bottom Panel
The Bottom Panel has three tabs named Properties, Effects and Transitions, which get highlighted once an object is selected. If you click on the background “Edit background” button appears in the bottom panel. Alternately you can click “Edit Background option” under Edit Menu.
i) Properties tab
The Properties tab shows and lets you edit the properties of the selected object. It shows the options like the add text, customize font style from existing fonts or import fonts from your system, insert fonts from the font character map, change font size, text styles such as bold, italic, underline and arc text. You can also Rotate text, provide transparency, change letter spacing between text, fill with a solid color or choose gradient fill or Fill with image. You can also link the selected object to a website.
ii) Effects Tab
The Effects tab allows you to drop shadow, blur, outline and emboss any selected object. You need to check the checkbox of the relevant effect to apply it to an object.
iii) Transitions tab
The Transitions tab shows various animations to give special effects to your intro at different stages. Following are the transitional effects:
• Start timing: The option “From beginning of the intro” will allow you to display the object in the beginning of the intro. When you select option “From another object”, it will allow you to control the beginning appearance of the object with respect to another objects. From the drop down you can select the object with which you want to control the transition of selected object and from second drop down you can select when the object will appear either on entry, stay or exit of the object in the previous dropdown.
• Entry effect: The options in entry effects help you to give special effect while the object is entering the intro. The option named effect has some selections like left to right or right to left effect etc. options that let you choose how the object should make entry in the intro. Entry time option helps you to decide the speed and you can fix the number of seconds at which the object must enter the intro.
• Stay effect: The options in stay effects help you to give special effect when the object stays on the intro and what it should do while staying on the intro. The option named effect has some selections like blinking, Zoom in, Zoom out, Fade in, Fade out etc options that let you choose what the object
should do. Stay time option helps you to decide the stay time of the object and fix the number of seconds that the object must stay on the intro.
• Exit effect: The options in exit effects help you to give special effect when the object exits from the intro and what it should do while going back from the intro. The option named effect has some selections like Zoom out, bottom to top etc that let you choose what the object should do. Exit time option helps you to decide the exit time of the object and fix the number of seconds after which the object must exit from the intro.
iv) Edit Background
Edit Background has following options:
• Intro Size- You can give different shapes and sizes to your intro. You can select size from the drop down which has various options called Small Button, Large Button, Vertical Intro, Skyscraper Intro, Square Button, Wide Skyscraper, Small Square, Square, Half Intro, Standard Intro, Leader board, Intro W/Nav, Medium Rectangle, Vertical Rectangle, Large Rectangle, Rectangle, Button and Custom. You can change the border of the intro by clicking on the checkbox of the option ‘Border’. You can also customize the color and size of the border of the intro.
• Background Shapes- You can give different shapes to the background of the intro by selecting option from the drop down of the ‘Background Shapes’ starting from rectangle, diamond to semi circle. When you preview the intro, the intro will appear in the shape of selected background shape.
• Solid color- To have solid color click on radio button in front of Solid Color then select color of your choice from option Color.
• Gradient Color - To have Gradient color, click on the radio button provided in front of Gradient Color. Now, you can select Start Color and End Color of your choice then select Type of your choice from the drop down and fix angle by the option named Angle.
• Custom/Library Image- To have an Image filled in the background of the intro, there are two radio buttons, Custom Image and Library Image. By clicking on the Custom Image, you can upload your own images. You can also upload images from the Library of the product by clicking on the radio button of the Library Image. You can browse the images from the library and a Background Library pop-up window will open. You can either select Static or Flash Images. The Static Images vary in sizes whereas flash images do not vary in sizes.
• Preloader- It is a checkbox that helps you to get a Preloader for your intro. To select Preloader of your choice click on the button named Select Preloader, you will get a lot of designs for Preloader. You can select any design of Preloader then click OK.
• Replay button at the end of the intro- It is a checkbox that will help you in getting a Reply button at the end of the designed intro.
• Loop continuously- It is a checkbox that helps you in making your intro loop continuously.
Frame Rate- You can enter Fame Rate as per your requirement.
• Hyperlink- You can give hyperlink to your intro by entering the URL of the website in the column next to Hyperlink (where http:// is already present) which you want your customers to see when they click at your hyperlink in intro.
• Target- You can select target of choice from the drop down.
• Browse Sound- If you add sound to intro, click on” Browse Sound” button and choose sound of your choice from our library and click OK.
f) Workspace
It is the area where you design your intro and see the changes happening according to your preferences and actions. Here, you can add different design elements and apply tools available to your intro. The work area can be extended to full screen with an arrow button available next to the bottom menu bar.
g)Tools in the left panel
The left panel contain buttons for different design tools that help you in making interesting and impressive intros. You can add text, image, symbols, shapes, and button, color filters, send back and bring front the objects, group ungroup, select all, flip vertical and flip horizontal, overlays, background libraries, color picker, color libraries, to fill color in the objects of intro.
i) Add Text
Adding Text: Click on the ‘Add Text’ or ‘T’ button to add text to the intro. You can also access this option in Insert Menu of the Menu Bar. You can edit the text directly in the Text Element. Alternatively, select the Text Element and edit the text from Properties Tab in the text box called ‘Text’.
Text Property Tab- When you select the Add Text design element, Text Property Panel will open just below the workspace. This Text ‘Properties’ tab has various text properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give text name. This text name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the text which makes it easy to search among other texts.
2. Text: It is a text box where you can enter your text.
3. Bold: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in bold when the checkbox is checked.
4. Italics: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in italics when the checkbox is checked.
5. Underline: It is a checkbox that help you to underline the text when the checkbox is checked
.
6. Arc Text: It is a checkbox that arcs the selected Text Element in the intro. You can also define the arc angle.
7. Font: It is a drop down that helps you to select the Font Style from the available Font options.
8. Import System Fonts: Click on the Import Font button and fonts will be imported from your system to the software.
9. Font Character Map: Click on the Character Map and a pop-up window opens up. Select the font you wish to add and copy it to add it to the selected Text Element. The each font has its own character set.
10. Link: It helps you to convert text into hyperlink.
11.Target: The frame tags in HTML guides the user how it will open in browser. The target is a dropdown with four options:
12. Option X and Y: These options indicate the location of the text in the intro or workspace.
13. Transparency: It gives you an option to add transparency effect to the selected object in the intro.
14. Letter spacing: You can either increase or decrease the spaces in between the alphabets of the text with this option.
15. Fill with Color: You can choose Color of the text according to your choice. You can either fill the text with a single color by selecting ‘Solid’ option or mix two colors together by selecting ‘Gradient’ option.
16. Fill with Image: You can fill the text with your image by clicking the check box of ‘Fill Image’ and enabling the Browse Button.
17. Size: This slide-bar gives you an option to increase or decrease the font size according to your wish.
18. Rotation: This slide-bar gives you an option to rotate text to any degree.
ii) Add Image
Adding Image(s): You can add Image(s) of your choice to your intro by clicking on the button of Images in the Left Panel. An alternative method is that you can go to the Insert Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on the button named Add Image. After clicking add image a new window named Add Images will open. In this window you will find an option named browse that will enable you to browse images from your computer and select an image from your computer. When you add an image the other options of scale, rotate, brightness, contrast and crop image will get activated. The scale option lets you to change images width and height. Rotate slide bar has options marked as 0, 90, 180, 270 and 360 that let you rotate the image to the selected angle. Brightness is a slide bar that helps you increase and decrease the brightness of the image. Contrast is also a slide bar that helps you to increase or decrease the image contrast. Crop helps you to crop the image and use in intro.
You can import images in JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF and TIFF formats.
Image Properties tab - When you select the Image design element or image of the intro, Image Properties tab will open just below the workspace. This Properties tab has various image properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the image. This image name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the image which makes it easy to search among other images.
2. Crop: A new pop up window opens where you can crop the selected image.
3. X and Y: It indicates the position of the image on the intro.
4. Width: It helps you to edit the width of the image.
5. Height: It helps you to edit the height of the image.
6. Hyperlink: It helps you to convert image into hyperlink.
7.Target: The frame tags in HTML guides the user how it will open in browser.
- self: it loads the page within the same frame as the link tag.
- blank: the link opens in a new browser window.
- parent: it opens in immediate parent of a frame.
- top: within a link tag causes the new page to load in the full body of the window, which is useful if you ever want to break out of the frameset you have created and have a frameless page.
8. Rotate: This slide bar gives you option to rotate image to any degree.
9. Transparency: The slide bar adds transparency visual effect to the image
iii) Add Symbol
Adding Symbol: To add symbol to the intro, click on the Symbol Button in the tools on the Left Panel or you can access the same from the Insert Tab in the Menu Bar. On clicking the button , a pop-up window opens displaying a list of different types of symbols catering to different industries. Select the symbol and click on ‘Ok’ button and it gets added to the intro.
The Bottom Panel displays three tabs with which you can customize the properties and add visual or transition effects to the symbol.
With the Properties tab, you can change the width, height or color of the symbol. You can add gradient effect or add image in the symbol. Adjust the rotation as per your requirements. A user can also use Transparency option to add transparency effect to the selected objects in the intro.
The Effects tab provides user with Drop shadow effect. You can change the color of the shadow. Blur and Outline effect can be added to the symbol. By clicking on the Emboss checkbox, you can give an embossed effect to the symbol.
The Transitions tab enables you to set the motion effects to the symbol by setting the timings for when the symbol appears, stays on the intro and exits from the intro.
iv) Add Shape
Adding Shape: Click on the Add Shape Button on the Left Panel or from the Insert Menu in the Menu Bar. You can add to the beauty of your intro by adding shape(s) to it. Click on the design element indicating Add Shapes. A new window named Add shape will open. This window lets you choose shape of your choice. The left side has a preview window that shows your selected shape on the other side you can see a drop down to select shape type where you can select the shape of your choice from Line, Arc, Burst, Gear, Oval, Polygon, Rectangle, Star, Ring and Diamond. The “Add Shape” pop up allows you to modify size, color and border color of the shape.
Shape Properties Tab- When you select any shape, its Properties tab will open just below the workspace. The properties of the shape panel keep on changing with the selected shape. This tab has various shape properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the shape. This shape name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the shape which makes it easy to search among other shapes.
2. Shape type: It tells the type of the selected shape.
3. Edit: It helps you to edit the selected shape.
4. X and Y: It indicates the position of the shape on the intro.
5. Border size: It helps you to edit the size of the border of shape.
6. Border color: It helps you to edit the color of the border of shape.
7. Angle: It helps you to change the angle of shape.
8. Fill Type: It helps you to select the type of fill color in the shape. You can select from none, solid and gradient color effects.
9. Fill with Image: You can fill the shape with an image in the intro. Click on the checkbox and enable the browse button. You can browse your image from the system.
10. Rotate: You can rotate the shape to different angles by using this option.
11. Transparency: The Transparency option is only for adding transparency effect to the shape.
v) Add Button
Adding Button: You can add button to the intro by clicking on the button in tools on the left panel. It is also accessible from the Insert Menu in the Menu Bar. Click on the design element indicating Add Button. A new window named Add Button will open. This window lets you choose button of your choice. Select button option from drop down named select button from round or square button. Both the options of buttons have buttons of various styles. You can select the button of your choice and below you can see the preview of the button. Select button has some the following details like enter button text where you can enter the name of the button that you want. Font option lets you choose the font for button text. Font size helps you to increase or decrease the size of the font of button text. Hyperlink helps you convert your button text to hyperlinks. Color helps you select the color of the button text. Underline, bold and italics help you to choose all these options.
Button Property Tab- When you select the Add button design element or any button of the intro, button Property Panel will open just below the workspace. This Property Panel has various button properties:

7. Link: It helps to provide a link to the button.
8. Target: It tells the target of the button like self, parents, blank and top.

13. Character map: Here you can add special character from the character map to button text.
vi) Color Adjustment
If you want to adjust the colors of any object you can make the adjustments using ‘Color Adjustment’ button in the Left Panel. Select any object color adjustment and click on the ‘Color Adjustment’ button. A pop-up window opens up which displays slide bars to adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.
vii) Send back/Bring Forward
Intro Designer offers tool to Bring Forward and send backward an object. For this select the object and click on the button Bring Forward or Send Backward.
viii) Group/Ungroup
On clicking the button of Group/Ungroup, you can group two or more objects together. By again clicking on the button, you can ungroup the selected objects. The grouped objects can be dragged together, resized, apply color adjustments, change color, use alignment and you can also flip objects in a group.
ix) Select All
The Select All button enables a user to select all the objects together and you can deselect the objects by again clicking on the button.
x) Flip Vertical/Horizontal
These two buttons can help a user to flip object/s either vertically or horizontally. You can access these two buttons either from ‘Edit’ Menu in the Top Menu Bar or from the tools in the Left Panel.
xi) Overlays
Overlay Button can be accessed from the tools in Left Panel. A user can use image animations which overlay on the intro.
On clicking this button, a pop-window opens up and you can choose the number of objects and adjust the speed as slow, medium and fast and then click on ‘Ok’ button for activating the overlaying of the selected images.
xii) Background Library
The ‘Background Library’ Button (next to ‘Overlay’ Button in the Left Panel) provides you with array of images for the intro background.
On clicking, a pop-up window appears displaying static images and flash animations for the backgrounds. The static images shows background images categorized under different sizes just select the required size and browse for intro backgrounds. Select the background and click on Ok button and it will be added to the intro.
The Flash animations can be applied to any intro size.
You can choose the image orientation as Stretch, Center or Custom from the bottom left section on the pop up window.
xiii) Color Picker
On clicking the Color Picker Button, you can change the color of any selected object in the intro.
Select the Object on which you want to apply color, and then click on Color Picker, move your cursor anywhere on the screen and click on the appropriate color and the color will be applied to the object. Alternatively, click on the object you wish to apply color, place the mouse over the required color and then click the mouse left button or press the spacebar.
xiv) Color Libraries
You can select color from the ‘Color Libraries’ Button. On clicking, a pop-up window opens up which displays five color libraries, namely, Standard, Pastel, Primary, Metallic and Vivid. A user can select any shade and click on ‘Ok’ button.
Intro Creation Methods
Create Intro from Scratch in 3 Easy Steps!!
Step1: In first step, click new and a new intro window will open. Now, select the size, fill type, shape, border for your intro. You can also, select loop if you need the intro to loop continuously, select the Replay button to add the replay button to the intro, specify the Frame rate and most importantly add the destination link to the intro. Go to next step.
Step 2: Now, the intro with the required features will appear on the work area. Now, you can use the Text Tool, Button Tool, Shape Tool and other features and customize the intro. Use transitions, flash background libraries and overlays to give animations to your intro.
Step 3: Next, preview your Intro and save the intro. Finally, Publish the Intro by clicking the Publish button from the tool bar. You can publish intro in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF formats. Alternatively, you can publish the intro by clicking File >Publish in the Menu bar. Now, your intro is ready.
Create Intro from Template in 3 Easy Steps!!
Step 1: In first step, click new and a new intro window will open. Now, select button ‘Select Template’. By clicking this you can select a template categorized as per sizes and select a intro. Click OK after you have selected a intro. Go to next step.
Step 2: The intro template that you have selected will get displayed on the workspace. Now, you can use the Text Tool, Button Tool, Shape Tool, Symbol tool and other features to customize the intro. Use transitions, flash background libraries and overlays to give animations to your intro.
Step 3: After customizing, preview intro and save it for future reference. Now, just publish the Intro; click the Publish button on the Toolbar. Alternatively, you can publish the intro by clicking File >Publish in the Menu bar. You can publish intro in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF formats.

MAKING A SLIDESHOW
On selecting Slide show in the startup window of Flash Design Studio, a “Flash Design Studio- Slideshow” pop-up window opens up displaying following options:
Browse Images: The ‘Browse Images’ section enables you to browse your own images from the system. Once the pop-up window opens up for browsing, you can select the image formats from JPG and PNG for importing the images.
Image Library: The browsed images appear in the ‘Image Library’ section. You can either add all the images for making a slideshow by clicking on ‘Add All’ or select any image and click on the button ‘Add’. Another simpler way is to drag and drop the picture to the right in the section of ‘Selected Images’.
Selected Images: This is another section that displays pictures which you have selected and would finally use them to make a slideshow. ‘Remove’ button is meant for removing any picture in this section by simply clicking on it and then using ‘Remove’ button. Similarly, you can remove all the selected images by clicking on ‘Remove All’ button.
Select Template: This is a section that enables you to select any template displayed such as Birthday, Kids, Love, Science Technology, Sports, etc. from the dropdown menu. The selected template gets displayed below the dropdown menu. Once all the changes are made click on the button ‘Ok’ to save them. The selected images in the slideshow will be displayed in the slide list on the workspace.
In case, you want to start slide show without any template, check the “No Template” check box under the templates dropdown.
User Interface (Tools & Features)
The User Interface of Flash Design Studio gives you the facility to customize and edit your slide show. To assist you in a better way, Flash Design Studio’s Slide show application consists of following components:
a) Bottom Panel
The Bottom Panel has three tabs named Slide List, Properties and Effects, which get highlighted once a slide or an object is selected.
Slide List- This tab displays all the images that you have selected in the previous pop-window and you can adjust the properties of these slides from here. In the bottom corner, there is a button called ‘Slide’, on clicking that button a pop-up window opens up with four tabs: Slide Properties, Effects, Sounds and Transitions.
‘Slide Properties’ tab- Here you can change the image added in the selected slide, if you want to add transparent image to the slide, check the ‘Transparent Image (PNG)’ check box and click on browse button to look through your computer add to image to the slide. Scale the images by adjusting the width and height and then click on “Apply” button. ‘Rotate’ option gives a rotation effect to the images and you can choose the angle of rotation from the scale. You can even crop the image by checking the check box and clicking on ‘Apply’ button. In order to save all the changes, you can click on ‘OK’ button.
‘Effects’ tab- In this tab, you can apply any kind of visual effect to the image for making the slide attractive. You need to simply check the check box of ‘Drop Shadow’, ‘Blur’, ‘Outline’ and ‘Emboss’.
‘Sounds’ tab- You can choose sound from our background library by simply clicking it and then checking the appropriate check box. You can apply any sound to either selected slides or to all the slides. You need to only check the check box against ‘Apply to Selected Slide’ or ‘Apply as Background Sound’ as per the requirement. The selected sound is displayed against the “Slide Sound” and if Background Sound is added it gets displayed against the “Background Sound”. The image of each slide can be viewed from the window provided below the options. Click on ‘Ok’ to save the changes.
‘Transitions’ tab- There are a variety of transitions to select such as Circle, Triangle, Split Vertical, Reveal-Down and other such transitions to be added to the slides. You can simply select anyone transition effect. Set the Transition Duration and check the checkbox if you want to apply the selected transition to all the slides. Similarly, you can set the time for ‘Slide Duration’ and the preview of the slide with the selected transition effect can be viewed. Click on ‘Ok’ button to save the changes.
Slideshow Settings button in the Main Tool Bar takes you to the first window to change the settings of the slide.
i) Properties tab
If a slide is selected, then the Properties tab shows and let you edit the properties of the selected slide and if an added image, text, shape or symbol is selected then it shows the properties of the selected object; which shows the options like customizing the size, color, fill, rotate, transparency properties etc.
ii) Effects Tab
If a slide is selected, then the Effects tab shows and let you edit the properties of the selected slide and if an added image, text, shape or symbol is selected then it allows you to drop shadow, blur, outline and emboss any selected object. You need to check the checkbox of the relevant effect to apply it to an object.
b) Menu bar
The Menu bar contains different Menu options. These are File, Edit, View, Insert, Filters, and Help.
i. File Menu
You can create a new slide show from scratch or from an existing template, open an existing slide show, save a new slide show, FTP to website, send slide show in mail and publish slide show. Alternatively, you can access New, Open, Save and Publish options from the Toolbar as well. You can save your slide show in any directory or drive of your computer in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format. Publish a slide show in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF.
FTP to Website
You can access the FTP to Website from the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on FTP and pop-up window opens up; you need to add FTP site to start and another pop-up window opens for FTP Site information. In this pop-up window, you need to input the Host Name, User Name, Password, Port and Directory. You can check the checkbox for Passive Connection, if required and click on Ok button. The FTP site gets added to the list. You can add more sites and modify or delete as desirable.
To upload a slide show file, browse your file from your system and click on Upload File button to upload it to the FTP website.
ii. Edit Menu
You can use Undo and Redo options to correct and repeat the previous actions, Edit Background to change background properties, Copy and Paste to copy and paste the objects, Copy properties to copy the effects/transition associated with the object and Paste properties to apply the copied properties to the selected object, Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical and Delete to delete the selected objects from the slide show.
iii. View Menu
You can view or hide the grid lines and ruler, zoom percentage from 25% to 200% and Align for alignment options. You can also send backward or bring forward different objects in the slide show.
iv. Insert Menu
You can add Text, Image, Shape and Symbol to the slide show.
v. Filters Menu
You can add visual effects to your slide show by using an inverted effect, enabling Grey Scale, sharpening the object, highlighting the edges of object or giving a water-like effect.
vi. Help Menu
In this menu, you can access Tips of the Day, Online Help and Tutorial, Technical Support, the website of the product, purchase Flash Design Studio and also know about more about the product.
c) Main Toolbar
The tool bar let you access the shortcuts to various processes i.e. Start a new slide show, open an existing slide show, saving a slide show, Copy Object, Paste, Delete, Undo, alignment options, Redo, Preview, Publish, Help and Zoom objects in the slide show. By Publish button, the slide show can be published in SWF, HTML as well as get transparent output in HTML and SWF.
• New: You can create a new slide show by clicking on the button “New”.
• Open: You can open a saved slide show created in Flash Design Studio.
• Save: Flash Design Studio allows you to save your slide show. To save click Save button by clicking menu bar >File > Save. Alternatively click Save button from Toolbar. You can save your slide show in any directory or drive of your computer. You can save your slide show in Flash Design Studio (*fds) format.
• Copy: You can copy the desired objects from your slide show. Click button named Copy from the toolbar and the selected object will be copied. Alternatively, you can select Copy from menu bar> Edit
• Paste: You can access the Paste button not only from the Main Tool Bar but also from the Edit Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You select any object from the slide show, click on the Paste button and the object will be pasted.
• Delete: You can delete the objects in your slide show. Select the object you want to delete and click delete. Alternatively, you can select Delete from menu bar> Edit.
• Undo: You can go a step back or to the previous step by clicking on Undo. Alternatively, you can select Undo from menu bar> Edit.
• Redo: You can redo a step by clicking on redo. Alternatively, you can select redo from menu bar> Edit.
• Alignment Options: You can align your objects with this button. Alternatively, you can access the same from View Menu in the Top Menu Bar. You can align the selected object to the left, in the center, to the right, at the top, in the middle or at the bottom.
• Preview button: By Preview button, you can preview the slide show created by you before it is published.
• Publish: To publish your slide show, click on the Publish Button and you can access the same Button in the File Menu in the Top Menu Bar. When you will click publish, a new window will open. With Flash Design Studio you will get a choice of getting slide show published in SWF, HTML as well as transparent output in HTML and SWF.
• Help: By clicking on the Help Button, you can navigate to the website where you can access the Help File of the product.
• Zoom option: This option zooms in the slide show workspace with your slide show to the selected option. It has options like 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175% and 200%.
d) Multiple canvases
You can work on more than 1 project at a time as you can switch between multiple tabs. You can open maximum 7 canvases at a time.
e) Layers Panel
The layers section allows you to view the selected object. This section helps you to lock and hide objects and arrange objects by moving them up and down with the help of arrows.
f) Workspace
It is the area where you design your slide show and see the changes happening according to your preferences and actions. Here, you can add different design elements and apply tools available to your slide show. The work area can be extended to full screen with an arrow button available next to the bottom menu bar.
g) Tools in the left panel
The left panel contain buttons for different design tools that help you in making interesting and impressive slide shows. You can add text, image, symbols, shapes, color filters, send back and bring front the objects, group ungroup, select all, flip vertical and flip horizontal, overlays, background libraries, color picker, color libraries, to fill color in the objects of slide show.
i) Add Text
Adding Text: Click on the ‘Add Text’ or ‘T’ button to add text to the slide show. You can also access this option in Insert Menu of the Menu Bar. You can edit the text directly in the Text Element. Alternatively, select the Text Element and edit the text from Properties Tab in the text box called ‘Text’.
Text Property Tab- When you select the Add Text design element, Text Property Panel will open just below the workspace. This Text ‘Properties’ tab has various text properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give text name. This text name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the text which makes it easy to search among other texts.
2.Text: It is a text box where you can enter your text.
3. Bold: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in bold when the checkbox is checked.
4. Italics: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in italics when the checkbox is checked.
5. Underline: It is a checkbox that help you to underline the text when the checkbox is checked.
6. Arc Text: It is a checkbox that arcs the selected Text Element in the slide show. You can also define the arc angle.
7. Font: It is a drop down that helps you to select the Font Style from the available Font options.
8. Import System Fonts: Click on the Import Font button and fonts will be imported from your system to the software.
9. Font Character Map: Click on the Character Map and a pop-up window opens up. Select the font you wish to add and copy it to add it to the selected Text Element. The each font has its own character set.
10. Link: It helps you to convert text into hyperlinkdfdsfdf.
11. Target: The frame tags in HTML guides the user how it will open in browser. The target is a dropdown with four options.
12. Option X and Y: These options indicate the location of the text in the slide show or workspace.
13. Transparency: It gives you an option to add transparency effect to the selected object in the slide show.
14. Letter spacing: You can either increase or decrease the spaces in between the alphabets of the text with this option.
15. Fill with Color: You can choose Color of the text according to your choice. You can either fill the text with a single color by selecting ‘Solid’ option or mix two colors together by selecting ‘Gradient’ option.
16. Fill with Image: You can fill the text with your image by clicking the check box of ‘Fill Image’ and enabling the Browse Button.
17. Size: This slide-bar gives you an option to increase or decrease the font size according to your wish.
18. Rotation: This slide-bar gives you an option to rotate text to any degree.
ii) Add Image
Adding Image(s):You can add Image(s) of your choice to your slide show by clicking on the button of Images in the Left Panel. An alternative method is that you can go to the Insert Menu in the Top Menu Bar. Click on the button named Add Image. After clicking add image a new window named Add Images will open. In this window you will find an option named browse that will enable you to browse images from your computer and select an image from your computer. When you add an image the other options of scale, rotate, brightness, contrast and crop image will get activated. The scale option lets you to change images width and height. Rotate slide bar has options marked as 0, 90, 180, 270 and 360 that let you rotate the image to the selected angle. Brightness is a slide bar that helps you increase and decrease the brightness of the image. Contrast is also a slide bar that helps you to increase or decrease the image contrast. Crop helps you to crop the image and use in slide show.
You can import images in JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF and TIFF formats.
Image Properties tab - When you select the Image design element or image of the slide show, Image Properties tab will open just below the workspace.
This Properties tab has various image properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the image. This image name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the image which makes it easy to search among other images.
2. Crop: It helps you to crop the selected image
3. Rotate: This slide bar gives you option to rotate image to any degree.
4. Transparency: The slide bar adds transparency visual effect to the image
iii ) Add Symbol
Adding Symbol:To add symbol to the slide show, click on the Symbol Button in the tools on the Left Panel or you can access the same from the Insert Tab in the Menu Bar. On clicking the button, a pop-up window opens displaying a list of different types of symbols catering to different industries. Select the symbol and click on ‘Ok’ button and it gets added to the slide show.
The Bottom Panel displays three tabs with which you can customize the properties and add visual or transition effects to the symbol.
With the Properties tab, you can change the width, height or color of the symbol. You can add gradient effect or add image in the symbol. Adjust the rotation as per your requirements. A user can also use Transparency option to add transparency effect to the selected objects in the slide show.
The Effects tab provides user with Drop shadow effect. You can change the color of the shadow. Blur and Outline effect can be added to the symbol. By clicking on the Emboss checkbox, you can give an embossed effect to the symbol.
The Transitions tab enables you to set the motion effects to the symbol by setting the timings for when the symbol appears, stays on the slide show and exits from the slide show.
iv) Add Shape
Adding Shape: Click on the Add Shape Button on the Left Panel or from the Insert Menu in the Menu Bar. You can add to the beauty of your slide show by adding shape(s) to it. Click on the design element indicating Add Shapes. A new window named Add shape will open. This window lets you choose shape of your choice. The left side has a preview window that shows your selected shape on the other side you can see a drop down to select shape type where you can select the shape of your choice from Line, Arc, Burst, Gear, Oval, Polygon, Rectangle, Star, Ring and Diamond. The “Add Shape” pop up allows you to modify size, color and border color of the shape.
Shape Properties Tab- When you select any shape, its Properties tab will open just below the workspace. The properties of the shape panel keep on changing with the selected shape.
This tab has various shape properties:
1. Name: It gives you an option to give name to the shape. This shape name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the shape which makes it easy to search among other shapes.
2. Shape type: It tells the type of the selected shape.
3. Edit: It helps you to edit the selected shape.
4. X and Y: It indicates the position of the shape on the slide show.
5. Border size: It helps you to edit the size of the border of shape.
6. Border color: It helps you to edit the color of the border of shape.
7. Angle: It helps you to change the angle of shape.
8. Fill Type: It helps you to select the type of fill color in the shape. You can select from none, solid and gradient color effects.
9. Fill with Image: You can fill the shape with an image in the slide show. Click on the checkbox and enable the browse button. You can browse your image from the system.
10. Rotate: You can rotate the shape to different angles by using this option.
11.Transparency: The Transparency option is only for adding transparency effect to the shape.
v) Color Adjustment
If you want to adjust the colors of any object you can make the adjustments using ‘Color Adjustment’ button in the Left Panel. Select any object color adjustment and click on the ‘Color Adjustment’ button. A pop-up window opens up which displays slide bars to adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.
vi) Send back/Bring Forward
Slide show Designer offers tool to Bring Forward and send backward an object. For this select the object and click on the button Bring Forward or Send Backward.
vii) Select All
The Select All button enables a user to select all the objects together and you can deselect the objects by again clicking on the button.
viii) Flip Vertical/Horizontal
These two buttons can help a user to flip object/s either vertically or horizontally. You can access these two buttons either from ‘Edit’ Menu in the Top Menu Bar or from the tools in the Left Panel.
ix) Color Picker
On clicking the Color Picker Button, you can change the color of any selected object in the slide show.
Select the Object on which you want to apply color, and then click on Color Picker, move your cursor anywhere on the screen and click on the appropriate color and the color will be applied to the object. Alternatively, click on the object you wish to apply color, place the mouse over the required color and then click the mouse left button or press the spacebar.
x) Color Libraries
You can select color from the ‘Color Libraries’ Button. On clicking, a pop-up window opens up which displays five color libraries, namely, Standard, Pastel, Primary, Metallic and Vivid. A user can select any shade and click on ‘Ok’ button.
xi) Slide option with Previous and Next buttons below the Color Library helps you in moving from one slide to another.
xii) Add Image slide button takes you to the first window where you can browse your own images.
xiii) Add blank slide button adds a blank slide to the slide show.
xiv) Remove button enables you to remove any slide which you wish to delete.
Slide show Creation Methods
Create Slide show from Scratch in 3 Easy Steps!!
Step1 In first step, click new and a new slide show window will open. Now, browse and select images to add to your slideshow. From the “Select Template” dropdown select “No template” and click ok.
Step 2: The images that you have selected will get displayed on the workspace. Now, you can use the slide list in the lower panel to organize your show and customize with Text Tool, Shape Tool, Symbol tool and other features to customize the slide show. Use transitions to give animations to your slide show.
Step 3: Next, preview your Slide show and save the slide show. Finally, Publish the Slide show by clicking the Publish button from the tool bar. Create Slide show from Template in 3 Easy Steps!!

MAKING A MENU
On selecting Menu in the startup window of Flash Design Studio, a pop-up window opens up displaying three tabs: |

1. Menu Design Tab:
You can customize the text attributes as well as appearance of the Main Menu and Sub-Menu buttons in the Menu Design tab.

Personalize the Text Size, Text Color, Font Type, Font Style and Alignment of text in the main menu button as desirable. |

Browse different background styles for main menu button by clicking on Browse Styles button in
‘Main Menu: Appearance’. You can choose background style from the background images provided in the library or you can also choose background image by browsing the folders in you system. Instead of clicking on the Browse styles you can simply change the background from the sample backgrounds images provided in the right panel. To change Main Menu button background, click on the Main Menu tab in the right panel and to change Sub Menu button background, click on the Sub Menu tab in the right panel.
Similarly, you can change the text attributes and appearance of Sub Menu from the ‘Sub Menu: Text Attributes’ and ‘Sub Menu: Appearance’.
Change the background for Navigation Bar by selecting a desirable ‘Background Color’ and browsing ‘Background Graphic’. You can display a border or dashed border and even personalize the border color. You can also add sound to your menu; choose sound effect by browsing the Sound from ‘Mouse Click Audio’.

2. Text and URLs Tab: |

In this tab, you can provide captions for main and sub-menu buttons. From the Left Panel, you can add new items for main menu and sub menu from the ‘Main Menu Button’ and ‘Sub Menu Button’. To add caption to main menu or sub menu, just select the menu item from the tree structure in the left panel. You can then key in the name of the button as well as its destination URL in the following options:
• Button Title- Add caption for selected main menu or sub menu item in this input box
• Link to (URL)- In this input box enter the hyperlink for the menu button
• Open In- This drop down provides 2 options, open in self or blank.
There are two more buttons at the bottom of the left panel: ‘Delete’ and ‘Move Up’ and ‘Move Down’ buttons. The ‘Delete’ button deletes the selected menu item and with the ‘Move Up’ and ‘Move Down’ button allow you to change the sequence/ arrangement of the menu items. |

3. Animate Menus: |

In the Animate Menu tab, you can choose the menu layout- vertical menu or horizontal menu. Just click the relevant radio button of horizontal or vertical menu to select any of them as Main Menu Layout and Positioning. You can customize the width and height of the menu layout by inputting the values.
You can apply roll over effects to the Menu, choose roll over effect from glow, drop shadow, drop shadow gradient or gradient glow. You can even choose to show the Sub Menu when the mouse moves over it by selecting ‘Show Sub Menu on Mouse over’.
There are three buttons provided in the Menu Tool Bar for saving, publishing and previewing the menu once you make the changes. You can click on the ‘Save’ button to save the Menu on your system; publish it in SWF or HTML or transparent (HTML or SWF) format by clicking on ‘Publish’ button and preview it by clicking on the ‘Preview’ button. |

MAKING A TEXT EFFECTS
The “New Text Effect” Window
On selecting text effects in the startup window of Flash Design Studio, a pop-up window “New Text Effect” opens up displaying different options for text effects.
Width & Height: Input the values for width and height for the text in the text field.
Border: You can choose to have a border for your text by checking the checkbox of ‘Border’.
Color: Select the color which you wish to apply on the text from many different options provided.
Size: You can customize the size of the border either by inputting the value or by using the numeric stepper and the value for the size gets displayed automatically.
Solid Color: This is an option provided for selecting only one particular shade for the background. Click on the radio button of ‘Solid Color’ to enable the feature and you can select from a variety of shades provided.
Gradient Color: Select the radio button of the ‘Gradient Color’ feature and you can apply any two shades to the background. Choose the ‘Start Color’ and ‘End Color’ as well as ‘Type’ (Linear or Radial) according to your requirement.
Custom Image: You can browse your own image for applying to background; from the system by selecting the radio button of ‘Custom Image’. You can also choose to stretch the image, place it in center or even customize by selecting any of the options mentioned below ‘Custom Image’, i.e. ‘Stretch’, ‘Center’ and ‘Custom’.
Library Image: There are many unique background images stored in the library of the software. You can select any image from our library by clicking on the button ‘Library Image’. A pop-up window named ‘Background Library’ opens up displaying the static backgrounds and flash backgrounds. The static backgrounds are arranged according to their sizes, whereas the flash backgrounds can be applied to any background irrespective of the size. You can also select the background image orientation from any of the options provided such as ‘Stretch’, ‘Center’ and ‘Custom’. Click on the ‘Ok’ button to save the changes.
Loop Continuously: ‘Loop Continuously’ is a checkbox which you can select if you want the text effect to loop continuously.
Replay Button at the end of the text effect: Select this checkbox if you want to display a ‘replay’ button at the end of the text effect.
Frame Rate: The frame rate option lets you to choose the number of frame.
Hyperlink: In the ‘Hyperlink’ Input box, you can enter the URL of the website where you want the text effects to be linked.
Target: This is used to select the target destination (web page) from the target dropdown menu.
Browse Sound: You can click on the ‘Browse Sound’ button to browse the sound to be added to the text effects. A pop-up window opens up displaying all the sound clips from our library. Select the sound which you wish to add and then click on ‘Ok’ button.
Select Template: You can select various kinds of text effects from the template library by clicking on the button ‘Select Template’. A pop-up window opens up displaying different templates categorized as per their size. Click on the ‘Ok’ button to save the changes that you have made to text.
In case, you want to start text effects from scratch, click Ok and you can work on the blank canvas.
User Interface (Tools & Features)
The User Interface of Text Effects Application gives you the facility to customize and edit your text effects. To assist you in a better way Text effects application consists of following components:
a) Menu bar
The Menu bar contains different Menu options. These are File, Edit, View, Insert, Filters, and Help.
i. File Menu
You can create a new text effects from scratch or from an existing template, open an existing text effects, save text effects, save created text effects as a template for future, FTP to website, send text effects in mail and publish text effects. Alternatively, you can access New, Open, Save and Publish options from the Toolbar as well. Click on FTP and pop-up window opens up; you need to add FTP site to start and another pop-up window opens for FTP Site information. The Properties tab shows and lets you edit the properties of the selected object. It shows the options like the add text, customize font style from existing fonts or import fonts from your system, insert fonts from the font character map, change font size, text styles such as bold, italic, underline and arc text. You can also Rotate text, provide transparency, change letter spacing between text, fill with a solid color or choose gradient fill or Fill with image. You can also link the selected object to a website.
ii) Effects Tab
The Effects tab allows you to drop shadow, blur, outline and emboss any selected text. You need to check the checkbox of the relevant effect to apply it to text.
iii) Transitions tab
The Transitions tab shows various animations to give special effects to your text effects at different stages. Following are the transitional effects:
• Start timing: The option “From beginning of the text effects” will allow you to display the object in the beginning of the text effects. When you select option “From another object”, it will allow you to control the beginning appearance of the object with respect to another objects. From the drop down you can select the object with which you want to control the transition of selected object and from second drop down you can select when the object will appear either on entry, stay or exit of the object in the previous dropdown.
• Entry effect: The options in entry effects help you to give special effect while the object is entering the text effects. The option named effect has some selections like left to right or right to left effect etc. options that let you choose how the object should make entry in the text effects. Entry time option helps you to decide the speed and you can fix the number of seconds at which the object must enter the text effects.
• Stay effect: The options in stay effects help you to give special effect when the object stays on the text effects and what it should do while staying on the text effects. The option named effect has some selections like blinking, Zoom in, Zoom out, Fade in, Fade out etc options that let you choose what the object should do. Stay time option helps you to decide the stay time of the object and fix the number of seconds that the object must stay on the text effects.
• Exit effect: The options in exit effects help you to give special effect when the object exits from the text effects and what it should do while going back from the text effects. The option named effect has some selections like Zoom out, bottom to top etc that let you choose what the object should do. Exit time option helps you to decide the exit time of the object and fix the number of seconds after which the object must exit from the text effects.
iv) Edit Background
Edit Background has following options:
• Text effects Size- You can give custom size to the text effects by adding in the “Text Size” input box.
• Solid color- To have solid color click on radio button in front of Solid Color then select color of your choice from option Color.
• Gradient Color - To have Gradient color, click on the radio button provided in front of Gradient Color. Now, you can select Start Color and End Color of your choice then select Type of your choice from the drop down and fix angle by the option named Angle.
• Custom/Library Image- To have an Image filled in the background of the text effects, there are two radio buttons, Custom Image and Library Image. By clicking on the Custom Image, you can upload your own images. You can also upload images from the Library of the product by clicking on the radio button of the Library Image. You can browse the images from the library and a Background Library pop-up window will open. You can either select Static or Flash Images. The Static Images vary in sizes whereas flash images do not vary in sizes.
• Replay button at the end of the text effects- It is a checkbox that will help you in getting a Reply button at the end of the designed text effects.
• Loop continuously- It is a checkbox that helps you in making your text effects loop continuously.
Frame Rate- You can enter Fame Rate as per your requirement.
Hyperlink- You can give hyperlink to your text effects by entering the URL of the website in the column next to Hyperlink (where http:// is already present) which you want your customers to see when they click at your hyperlink in text effects.
• Target- You can select target of choice from the drop down.
• Browse Sound- If you add sound to text effects, click on” Browse Sound” button and choose sound of your choice from our library and click OK.
f) Workspace
It is the area where you design your text effects and see the changes happening according to your preferences and actions. Here, you can add different design elements and apply tools available to your text effects. The work area can be extended to full screen with an arrow button available next to the bottom menu bar.
g) Tools in the left panel
The left panel contain buttons for different design tools that help you in making interesting and impressive text effects. You can add text, color filters, send back and bring front the objects, group ungroup, select all, flip vertical and flip horizontal, overlays, background libraries, color picker, color libraries, to fill color in text.
i) Add Text
Adding Text: Click on the ‘Add Text’ or ‘T’ button to add text to the text effects. You can also access this option in Insert Menu of the Menu Bar. You can edit the text directly in the Text Element. Alternatively, select the Text Element and edit the text from Properties Tab in the text box called ‘Text’.
Text Property Tab- When you select the Add Text design element, Text Property Panel will open just below the workspace. This Text ‘Properties’ tab has various text properties:
- Name: It gives you an option to give text name. This text name is for internal use of the software. It gives name to the text which makes it easy to search among other texts.
- Text: It is a text box where you can enter your text.
- Bold: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in bold when the checkbox is checked.
- Italics: It is a checkbox that help you to write text in italics when the checkbox is checked.
- Underline: It is a checkbox that help you to underline the text when the checkbox is checked.
- Arc Text: It is a checkbox that arcs the selected Text Element in the text effects. You can also define the arc angle.
- Font: It is a drop down that helps you to select the Font Style from the available Font options.
- Import System Fonts: Click on the Import Font button and fonts will be imported from your system to the software.
- Font Character Map: Click on the Character Map and a pop-up window opens up. Select the font you wish to add and copy it to add it to the selected Text Element. The each font has its own character set.
- Option X and Y: These options indicate the location of the text in the text effects or workspace.
- Transparency: It gives you an option to add transparency effect to the selected object in the text effects.
- Letter spacing: You can either increase or decrease the spaces in between the alphabets of the text with this option.
- Fill with Color: You can choose Color of the text according to your choice. You can either fill the text with a single color by selecting ‘Solid’ option or mix two colors together by selecting ‘Gradient’ option.
- Fill with Image: You can fill the text with your image by clicking the check box of ‘Fill Image’ and enabling the Browse Button.
- Size: This slide-bar gives you an option to increase or decrease the font size according to your wish.
- Rotation: This slide-bar gives you an option to rotate text to any degree.
ii) Color Adjustment
If you want to adjust the colors of any text you can make the adjustments using ‘Color Adjustment’ button in the Left Panel. Select any text color adjustment and click on the ‘Color Adjustment’ button. A pop-up window opens up which displays slide bars to adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.
iii) Send back/Bring Forward
Text effects Application offers tool to Bring Forward and send backward text. For this select the text and click on the button Bring Forward or Send Backward.
iv) Group/Ungroup
On clicking the button of Group/Ungroup, you can group two or more text objects together. By again clicking on the button, you can ungroup the selected text objects. The grouped text objects can be dragged together, resized, apply color adjustments, change color, use alignment and you can also flip text objects in a group.
v) Select All
The “Select All” button enables a user to select all the text objects together and you can deselect the objects by again clicking on the button.
vi) Flip Vertical/Horizontal
These two buttons can help a user to flip text either vertically or horizontally. You can access these two buttons either from ‘Edit’ Menu in the Top Menu Bar or from the tools in the Left Panel.
vii) Background Library
The ‘Background Library’ provides you with array of images for the text effects background.
On clicking, a pop-up window appears displaying static images and flash animations for the backgrounds. The static images shows background images categorized under different sizes just select the required size and browse for text effects backgrounds. Select the background and click on Ok button and it will be added to the text effects.
The Flash animations can be applied to any text effects size.
You can choose the image orientation as Stretch, Center or Custom from the bottom left section on the pop up window.

) Color Picker
On clicking the Color Picker Button, you can change the color of any selected object in the text effects.
Select the Object on which you want to apply color, and then click on Color Picker, move your cursor anywhere on the screen and click on the appropriate color and the color will be applied to the text. Alternatively, click on the text you wish to apply color, place the mouse over the required color and then click the mouse left button or press the spacebar.
ix) Color Libraries
You can select color from the ‘Color Libraries’ Button. On clicking, a pop-up window opens up which displays five color libraries, namely, Standard, Pastel, Primary, Metallic and Vivid. A user can select any shade and click on ‘Ok’ button.
